About Matthews Brothers

We built a better way to dredge.

An owner-operated marine specialist out of Pass Christian, Mississippi, serving operators across the Gulf Coast since 1999.

Our Story

Two brothers, and a purpose-built way to dredge.

Shaw and Tom Matthews founded Matthews Brothers Dredging in 1999 for one kind of customer: industrial terminals, energy companies and ports that can't afford to shut down. Keeping those operations running while the dredging gets done became the whole point of the company.

That's why they run a mechanical, clamshell-driven process, paired with custom-built barges like the MBI-08 dredge and the MBI-007 unloading barge. It keeps docks operational, protects buried pipelines and delivers the survey-verified results serious operators demand.

Today, that same owner-operated company serves industrial terminals, ports, municipalities, marinas and federal projects across Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Texas.

The Matthews Brothers Difference

A process designed around your operation, not ours.

01

Docks stay open

Our clamshell process works alongside live berths, so cargo keeps moving while we dredge.

02

Lower time and cost

Purpose-built equipment and tight sequencing cut the days, and the dollars, off a project.

03

Infrastructure protected

Mechanical, survey-guided digging avoids the pipeline and cable strikes that hydraulic methods risk.

04

Survey-driven precision

Every job is measured before and after, so you get proof of the depth you paid for.

05

Flexible mobilization

A versatile fleet means we can scale to a federal channel or a single private slip.
